Alas, the Holiday season is over and it is time to put our heads back in the game for 2008.
Thanks to disfigure, we are proud to announce the (re)opening of the tux wargame which is accessible ONLY after you compete the blowfish wargame i.e. the password for the last level of blowfish is the first level password on tux :) We have also expanded our current network which consisted of: netgarage, sectrust, janus, clientbot and have added rootmybox/darkc0de to the network pool. There is also another wargame (blackbox) that calcite is working hard to get online for mass enjoyment. Keep checking the forum and or idle in #blackbox or #social for the online announcement. Once we get the main wargames stablized we will be rolling out the team wargames!!! if you have any input echo it in the forum, IRC, or email. Lastly, Elx has blessed us with our very own PBX. Visit
http://pbx.smashthestack.org or join #social and inquire for more information.
As always if you have any thoughts, concerns, or ideas do not hesitate to email us at staff[@]smashthestack.org |

As you all know the two main wargames at Smash The Stack have been down for a while. They were moved somewhere and then were left without a home, they have now been relocated to their temporary home with a nice stable connection. Blowfish and Tux will be back up this week. Keep and eye on this page for more updates, sorry for the downtime.
Whilst they are down, I recommend taking a peak at apfel s0ttle/ellt0s wargame. It is aimed at the more advanced players, well worth a bit of your time :-) |

Ok, it has nothing to do with AppleŽ
This is a reversing/fuzzing wargame with local and remote levels. Apfel is similar to tux in that it's closed source and some playing with objdump, gdb, strace, etc will be required.
The other games are being physically relocated at the moment and will be back online soon. |

Hey guys, finally the new tux wargame has been opened. Like blowfish, I have reconfigured it, added new levels, and made a decent site for it. The site now contains the tag pages and other relevant bits of information. This is a closed-source wargame aimed at the advanced players. You will need to reverse engineer the binaries to understand how to take control of the level. Have fun and enjoy the game! I will be working on the new teams wargame environment next. |

Hey guy's just thought I would let you all know, alphy kindly offered his free shell service to our Smash The Stack community. So if you ever need a shell account for constructive reasons, e.g. playing the wargames, coding, learning.. then check out the services section and click on the rednex link. You will be redirected to the rednex shellserver homepage where you will then have instructions on how to apply for an account. Big thanks to alphy for allowing us the use of his shell service.

Hey guys, we are currently working on a new wargaming network. I am in the process of configuring a couple of servers running VMWare and will setup the games as guest O.S's. I have setup the new blowfish wargame it has changed slightly, its now aimed at intermediate/advanced. It has 19 levels (hopefully adding a few more over the next couple of days). Also on the server running blowfish, we plan to host a new, re-configured (plus more levels) tux and blackbox (calcites new advanced level game). Also a Sun Ultra 5/10 sparc with solaris 10 installed is being setup as a level based wargame, a web based wargame is also being constructed as well as a teams game environment (composed of 4 servers). I will update you to as and when these will become available, check out the forums too! The new blowfish.smashthestack.org will be up by the weekend and the relevant details posted in the wargames section of this site. |

Welcome to Smash The Stack Wargaming Network! |

|
Hello and welcome back to the new and improved Smash The Stack Wargaming Network! I have finally settled in at my new house/job. Slowly but surely we are getting everything setup. We are currently working on a list of wargames, a level based solaris 10 sparc wargame, set of 4 servers to be used in a teams game environment, a web based wargame and an advanced level based wargame. We are going to slowly bring back some free services, thing's like email (spam filtering and virus scanning, etc), shell's, web hosting etc. Over time I plan to move some of the wargames to the datacenter at my work depending on the cost etc. At the moment they are now hosted on a stable network. We are looking for people that are willing to run their own wargame. If you've ever wanted to be a wargame administrator we now have the facility to offer you hardware on a fast network for you to experiment in running your own wargame. If you are interested in this please get in touch with me (dusty). We are also looking for suggestions, ideas and feedback from users as to what they would like to see here. Anyways thats it from me for now. Everyone sign up on the main page (here) and on the forums, help support us! |
